Presenter Bio: 

 

Mark Whitwell (New Zealand) has enjoyed a life-long relationship with the teachings of Professor T. Krishnamacharya ‘the teacher of the teachers’, notably BKS Iyengar, K Pattabhi Jois, Srivatsa Ramaswami, Indra Devi, A G Mohan and TKV Desikachar. Having studied since 1973 in the home of Krishnamacharya with his son Desikachar, Mark lives in Los Angeles and Fiji and travels throughout the world teaching the timeless principles of ancient yoga wisdom with compassion and clarity.  In 1996, Mark established The Heart of Yoga Association, a non-profit foundation that provides yoga education around the world.

Advanced Yoga for ‘Perfect’ Beginners
The Four Secret Principles of Successful Yoga and Life. Yoga must be adapted to individual needs. "Adapt Yoga to the individual, not the individual to the yoga. There is a perfect yoga for every person. If you can breathe you can do yoga," says Whitwell. An introduction to asana, bandha, pranayama, meditation and life as a seamless process. Learn how to precisely adapt yoga to individual needs and health issues, yours, your family your students. Open to all levels. Practice and discussion.

Individualizing your practice

Advanced asana, pranayama, bandha, meditations and Life…a seamless process. Yoga is the means by which each person directly absorbs the nurturing force of life. Asana came from the great tradition of tantra. What does this statement mean? How does your asana become what it was originally intended to be? A short talk and practices culminating in yoga meditation with powerful use of sacred mantra and yantra.
