Afro Brazilian Female Percussion

Brazil

Meninas Da Lua is a vibrant, high-spirited, multi-ethnic feminine percussion, vocal and dance collective, an eclectic rainbow of power and beauty, that pays homage to the deep roots of Afro-Brazilian culture with their celebration of movement and song.

With their roots in Byron Bay, Australia, Meninas Da Lua (Moon Girls) play the traditional African-infused music from the north-east of Brazil including the Coco, Maracatu, Afoxe, and Samba Reggae. Retrieving and sharing with the world, parts of Brazilian culture that in many places has been forgotten through modernization.

Featuring the powerful, deep voice of Priscilla Rios, The women bring the essence and powerful transmissions of the rich Brazilian culture as a social project to bring forth love, respect, generosity, and unity through joyful musical vibration, calling forth the force of Women's empowerment with their workshops teaching percussion, dance, and singing.
