Sydel Weinstein

Mindful Meditation

Sydel has been practicing yoga & meditation for 40 yrs. After completing her studies Sydel travelled extensively exploring meditation, yoga, growth and consciousness.

On her travels Sydel met her life partner Sam Weinstein (1956-2018). Sam was mentored by Pujari (Ed K) and trained with B.K.S Iyengar. Over 42 years Sam taught 1000’s of classes and developed a style of yoga he called ‘Transformational Alignment Based Yoga’. He was known for his passionate sharing of yoga as a pathway for unconditional love and acceptance. Also for his kindness and compassion. His teachings were truly transformative and inspirational. Sydel carries on their work today through the Home of Yoga they co-founded in 1985.

Additionally they also founded a non-profit the Family Nurturing Centre that pioneered parent and baby yoga, pregnancy yoga as well as Integrating community and a wider vision of supporting parents in co-creating a more nurturing and peaceful world.

Today the non-profit side of their work has expanded under the name HEART PLACE to include Trauma informed yoga, body therapy, mindfulness training, mental health education and community activities.

The vision of heartplace is of a compassionate world where we are responsive to the suffering of others and ourselves. Where all people have a sense of place, a right to place, and can find meaning and purpose in their lives.

This vision is expressed through all of Sydel’s offerings.

“ Over the years in my own practice I found myself often coming to a place of stillness and simplicity. Slowing movement and synchronising with breath seemed a natural part of my own healing pathway.”

Profoundly influenced by her work with refugees, her experience as a carer for many years and training in MBSR with Jon Kabat-Zinn ( 2009) Sydel developed her own speciality teaching Mindful Yoga & Heart Flow: a healing yoga that integrates mindful movement, resonance and rhythm with simplicity, kindness and compassion.
