6 Incredible Reasons To Attend The Bali Spirit Festival 2023
Come to the tropical island of Bali in May to experience one of the top five transformational festivals in the world!
There’s no better way to deepen your yoga practice and awaken your spiritual being than with the immersive experience of attending a yoga festival.
One of the most life changing events I’ve attended is the Bali Spirit Festival, held in the deeply spiritual destination of Ubud, Bali.
If you’ve not yet heard about the Bali Spirit Festival, you’re missing out! But fear not, as I’m here with the scoop about this immense yoga event and why you should book your flights to Bali this May!
What Is The Bali Spirit Festival?
The Bali Spirit Festival has been activating people’s hearts since 2008, with the goal of creating a global community gathering of different cultures sharing their practices and teachings for personal and collective well-being.
The festival is set on the blissful and deeply spiritual island of Bali, Indonesia. Known as ‘the island of the Gods’ Bali has become a MAJOR yoga and spirituality hub over the years.
This year, the festival runs from May 4th to 7th 2023 with an impressive line-up of international teachers, speakers, and performers, who share the same mission – to promote social change and world peace.
6 Reasons Why You Should Attend Bali Spirit Festival
You can join so many amazing workshops and events
The Bali Spirit Festival’s schedule is diverse and comprehensive offering incredible workshops, music, and community events. There’s something for everyone, you only need a desire for personal or spiritual growth to gain massive value from this epic event.
The workshops are divided into three categories:
- Yoga, meditation, dance and martial arts,
- Sound healing and breathwork,
- Dharma talks, seminar, and speakeasies.
The yoga classes cover over 10 different styles, so you’ll get to practise your favourite and discover some styles you’ve never tried before.
A massive part of the festival is music. It showcases a vast array of spiritually-inspired artists that help to make the experience more soulful and intimate.
There is also a large community area with a marketplace featuring Bali’s finest restaurants and vendors, a community pavilion with daily classes, and healing huts where you can book private sessions with healers and readers.

You’ll gain numerous insights and breakthroughs
Immersive spiritual experiences are always incredibly transformative, so expect to leave this yoga festival as a different (but better) person.
Sometimes all we need to gain clarity, break old habits and let go of self-sabotaging behaviours is a supportive, inspiring, and empowering environment that pushes us out of our comfort zone.
At the Bali Spirit Festival you’ll get inspired by the incredible speakers, learn new practices to support and boost your personal growth, and partake in life-changing discussions more powerful (and cheaper) than your therapy sessions.
So, if you’re looking to feel more connected to the universe, and step into a more purposeful life, attending the Bali Spirit Festival is an absolute must!
You’ll meet tons of like-minded people
If you struggle to meet people who are on your ‘wavelength’ and share your passion for spiritual growth, you won’t have to worry about this at the Bali Spirit Festival.
Whether you’re a yogi, energy healer, tantra practitioner, dancer, singer, martial artist, or anything else, you will find your tribe here.
The festival’s structure makes meeting like-minded people and beginning conversations effortless. The workshops are interactive and there are many social areas.
As the festival evokes such an intimate, inter-connected experience, you won’t have any superficial conversations or small talk here. I quickly formed close bonds with my workshop buddies and came away with a handful of new friends.
You can learn about different cultures
Not only will you learn about the beautiful Balinese culture, the teachers and speakers at Bali Spirit Festival are from diverse backgrounds, sharing traditions and practices from around the globe.
Choose from workshops including local Javanese meditation, Afro-Brazilian Capoeira, devotional mantras and qi-gong. Or relax and enjoy dance performances from all over the globe, from Balinese to Indian and West African.
You’re contributing towards a good cause
Another thing I love about the Bali Spirit Festival is that their passion and commitment to giving back and making the world a better place.
They have various Karma (Giving Back) outreach initiatives, including many partner organisations in Bali and worldwide. These include children’s programs, multicultural education & performances, health clinics, HIV & AIDS awareness and environmental protection.
Since 2010, Bali Spirit Festival has raised over $200,000 for these causes so you know the hard-earned cash you use to buy a ticket will go to multiple good purposes.
It’s set in paradise
This year’s Bali Sprit Festival will be held in the world-famous Yoga Barn in Ubud, surrounded by blissful nature and good vibes only a 10 minute walk from the scared Monkey Forest.
Ubud is Bali’s yoga and spiritual centre, known for it’s beautiful temples and holy springs, lush rice terraces, yoga studios and vegan cafes. Ubud has a long history of healing and became world-famous thanks to its appearance in the book and movie ‘Eat Pray Love,’ which inspired modern-day spiritual seekers to visit on their own self-discovery quest.
Ubud is an easy 45-minute ride from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport and there are many beautiful and affordable places to stay like the Ubud Aura Retreat nearby the festival venue. The Puri Padi Hotel will be hosting some festival events and the luxury Alaya Resort is just next door.
