About Adam Alydrus

Adam Alydrus is a world music and ethnic electronic artist creating immersive sound journeys that blend traditional and modern sounds. Using his own invented instrument and live looping, he builds organic, evolving compositions in real time.

His music connects ancestral textures with contemporary electronic elements, creating a bridge between cultures, technologies, and inner experiences.

The Project

Adam’s project is based on live creation. Each performance is built using a self-made instrument and a loop station. The result is music that feels both ancient and modern, calm and rhythmic, suitable for deep listening as well as movement and dance.

The Instrument

Indulung is a self-invented and handcrafted instrument created by Adam. It was inspired by his multicultural family background, his love for many different musical instruments, and the desire for a practical instrument that can be used while traveling.

The name Indulung was given by Datu Norbeck, a cultural preservation figure of the Tidung Tribe in North Kalimantan. The word refers to a boat that can be used from both sides, reflecting the instrument’s multifunctional nature. Indulung combines elements of several instruments, including the oud or gambus (typical for Kalimantan), tar or sapek (one of Borneo’s most iconic instruments), harp, melodica, European flute, and percussion.

The instrument was born from Adam’s passion for both music and woodworking, which he practices as a meditative craft. Today, Indulung serves as his main tool to share his musical message with audiences. Using Indulung, along with other traditional instruments and live looping, Adam creates mesmerizing fusions of traditional and modern sounds.

The Album
Adam’s latest album, The Bridge, wil be released just before Balispirit Festival 2026.

The Bridge represents Adam’s vision of linking worlds: traditional and electronic, acoustic and digital, inner and outer. The album is designed as a journey and translates naturally into the live show.
