Alan Sousa
Afro-Brazillian Percussion
Brazil
About Alan Sousa
Percussionist and producer from one of the most percussive cities in the world, Salvador da Bahia (Brazil), he began his career in percussion groups in the city and later became a professional percussionist accompanying and sharing stages with world-renowned artists such as Gilberto Gil, Carlinhos Brown, Jaques Morelembaun, David Freeman, Alex Acuña, Omar Sosa, Carlos Nuñez, among others.
Alan arrived in Barcelona in 2005, wanting to broaden his musical horizons and to bring lesser-known Afro-Brazilian rhythms to European musicians and audiences. As a freelance musician, he continues to accompany great artists, giving percussion workshops throughout Europe and performing in large private events.
2026 will be Alan’s second year at the Balispirit Festival, where he will perform on the Grove Stage in the Afrosideral Band, a project that fuses traditional Cuban, Afro-Cuban & Brazilian folklore with live electronic music.
The Afrocuban Collective
Featuring the other world class artists Kumar Sublevao-Beat, Yadira Ferrer, Alan Sousa & Diego Coppinger, the Afrocuban Collective will be performing a repertoire of original songs and Afro-Cuban classics with a modern, Afro-jazz, and tribal style.
