Since co-founding one of Australia’s early underground and seminal hip hop acts, MetaBass’n’Breath, Marlon Porter (aka: Elf Tranzporter), has become renowned for his unique vocal and wide-ranging styles, site-specific freestyle skills and street-honed-cipher-(b)old-school beatbox ability.
With a vast recording and collaboration history, over the course of three decades, Elf Tranzporter has managed to tour the world; sharing the stage with a variety of notable artists and performing acts including: The legendary beat-poet, Allen Ginsberg, Grand Wizard Theodore (inventor of the hip hop vinyl record scratch), The Roots, Project Blowed, Zion I, Blackstar (Mos Def & Talib Kweli), Living Legends, Spearhead, Kid Lucky, Black Alicious, Ozomatli, Fat Boy Slim, Q-bert, The Invisible Scratch Pickles, Z-Trip, Jeru the Damaga, Run DMC, DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, Jurassic 5, Public Enemy, John Butler Trio, Australian High Court Judge, Justice Michael Kirby, M1 (Dead Prez), and most recently, dub-reggae pioneer legend, Lee Scratch Perry.
Elf Tranzporter’s first solo LP, entitled ‘Ethereal Lotus Fleet,’ (2007) continues to gather ace reviews for its timeless quality and steadily beckons calls for follow up currently in the works.
Elf T.‘s musical endeavors continue to generate numerous new collaboration invites, as well as an ever-growing interest from venues, festival event organizers and promoters within the Hip Hop scene, as well as within the wider music world at large.
ET’s International tours over the last two decades have included 6 week tour in Japan (2009) promoting his debut LP, ‘Ethereal Lotus Fleet,’ two European tours 2011 – 2013 with his crew of 20 + yrs., Combat Wombat commencing with the Fusion Festival (East Germany), and continuing on through the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and France followed up by solo performances in the US, (NYC, Chicago and LA).
A regular guest with Melbourne’s Ethiopian Jazz Funk Hip hop band, Black Jesus Experience Elf was invited to tour Africa, performing at the African Jazz Village Club in Addis Ababa and the Tigray-Melaka region of Ethiopia and features on with Ethiopian jazz legend, Mulatu Astatke and BJX’s latest LP, To Know Without Knowing’.
Elf T. and fellow MC collaborator, Mista Monk performed both as a duo as well as solo sets continuing through the continent, on a two month tour of South Africa which included shows in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town as well as a show in the East African Island of Zanzibar in Tanzania (2017).
Main vocalist for his Middle Eastern-fused, Hip hop, Electronic band, Bashka, Elf Tranzporter performed a series of 12 shows across Turkey in 2018.
Off-shore member of the group, Heavyweight Dub Champion (SF), Elf Tranzporter appears on the HDC+’s LP, ‘Rise of the Champion Nation’ along side KRS ONE, Dr. Israel and Wu-Tang Clan’s Killah Priest.
