Malaika MaVeena Darville, aka DJ Ma, is a revered Elder, ceremonial guide, and living library of embodied Earth wisdom. With over three decades of global experience, she has lived among Indigenous communities in Africa and trained with wisdom keepers across the Earth, carrying ancient teachings that cannot be found in books or AI—only through lived experience.

She is the Creatrix of 5Elements Dance Activation™, a facilitator for Dance of the Sacred Feminine, African Dance & Drum, Malaika has also been a pioneer of the conscious dance and cacao movement in Australia and Bali; and, as DJ Ma, she is internationally known as one of Bali’s most revered Ecstatic Dance Djs.

DJ Ma’s Ecstatic Dance offering is a full-arc dance journey weaving pulsating world grooves, tribal house, sultry trap, and deep Afro beats to somatic bliss guiding the community from wild collective activation back into a grounded heart-centred closing prayer for Mama Bali and a closing moment of Community Unity on the Dance floor.

In addition to commanding the dance floor, Malaika is also known for her radiant presence and for her ability to awaken Shakti life-force energy. Malaika holds transformational retreats, trainings, and sacred ceremonies in over 20 countries worldwide.

In these retreats and events, Malaika offers soul-stirring rituals that bridge ancient traditions with modern awakening. She is a Grandmother inspirational guide to many, holding powerful space for peace, family, and remembrance of our shared humanity. Her life’s work is rooted in Shamanic principles, elemental embodiment, and restoring harmony to the human spirit and our relationship with nature.

Malaika has been offering up her magic at the annual Balispirit Festival since its inception in 2008, we are so blessed to have her back this year.
