The Earth's Natural Color Workshop
Originally from Bandung, Tami and Suy have always felt inspired to explore Indonesia’s beautiful environment and its relation to culture. For six years they have lived as nomads and began working with natural materials and learning biodiversity and started conducting workshops to educated Indonesian children about the importance of preserving the local environment. Growing up in villages, which were far from the city center, they were always exposed to the importance of living in harmony with nature. As they reached adulthood, they both developed a deep desire to embark on a journey of expanding the knowledge they gained from their surroundings by exploring the vast cultures that make up Indonesia and the people’s relation to nature. At the heart of their belief is the importance of preserving this knowledging by teaching Indonesia’s next generation. Due to the belief that children will be able to influence the psychology, physical health and societies for years to come. Through their travels, they developed an ability to translate nature’s mystic language into the visual arts via symbols, shapes, and colors. As everything that they create is based on what they have seen, experienced and interacted with during their life as nomads. Our ancestors, via their artwork in the form of patterns on clothes, caves, and wood, passed onto their children the sacred energy of water, fire, wind, and earth. It is their desire to share how nature’s ingredients can awaken the inner child to create beautiful art.
