Soul, Sacred & World Music
Suksma is an amazing, eclectic band from Atlanta, playing in the genre of world music, Soul music, and Sacred Music. Their music, being very unique, is both soothing and energizing at the same time and can be described as a blend of authentic melodies from all over the world with a modern Soulful sound. Due to their deeply personal approach to their work, each of their performances becomes a very special experience.
Suksma is a Balinese word that means “Expression of Gratitude.” This expresses the intention of the band’s sound! Suksma draws their inspiration from deeply soulful Spirituals from the American south, Hindu Mantras from India, medicine songs from South America, mystical songs from the Orient, to Sacred songs from the African continent. Suksma uses a collection of more than 14 musical instruments from all across the world. Examples being Guitar, Ukulele, Banjo, Sitar (India), exotic flutes, Harmonium, Guzheng (China), Handpan, Crystal Sound Bowls, world precision, and more.
The enchanting voices of multi-instrumentalist Haji Basim and Venecia Nahi transport the audience into a magical world. Sebastian/Metabear provides his masterful handpan playing, while the deeply healing Crystal singing bowl played by Jemery Dalton creates a tranquil space for sound healing. Suksma’s sound is so original and has such an exclusive sound that it is impossible to confuse them with any other band.
