About Ugo Ezenkwele

Dr. Ugo Ezenkwele serves as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Queens (USA) and a Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

At this year’s Festival and at Bali Conference, he will speak about “Acute Care Management of Musculoskeletal Trauma in High-Impact Yoga.”

Trained at Johns Hopkins University, where he also earned a Master’s in Public Health, Ugo has long been guided by a desire not only to treat illness but to uplift communities. Throughout his career, he has embodied compassion, empathy, and selflessness—as a physician, mentor, and advocate committed to equity and dignity for every patient. As an educator and leader, he has spoken widely on injury prevention, health disparities, unconscious bias, and diversity in medical education, always striving to create a more inclusive and just healthcare system. His leadership has shaped national efforts around belonging in medicine, including roles with the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians, as well as serving as president of the Emergency Medicine Section of the National Medical Association.

His many honors reflect not just achievement, but a life dedicated to service and impact. He continues to give back as a board member of the Emergency Medicine Foundation and through his work with the American Board of Emergency Medicine, helping shape future generations of physicians. At every step, his mission remains clear: to care deeply, lead with purpose, and leave medicine better than he found it.
