21 DAY BALANCE INSPIRATION
Find your balance on our 21 day inspiration! The 2019 theme at BaliSpirit Festival was ‘Restore the Balance’. We have gathered the wisdom from world-renowned teachers to inspire you. Take one advice per day and let us know how you feel after 21 days. What were your experiences?
1. CHECK IN WITH YOURSELF
Today spend all day just doing what you really feel like. After getting up, ask yourself “What do I really feel like doing? Who do I want to meet? What do I want to eat?” And then act accordingly. How does your day feel if you really just do what you want to do? Try to include at least little time periods every day during which you just do what you feel like doing.
2. USE AFFIRMATIONS – EVERY DAY
When we feel off-balance we also tend to talk more negatively to ourselves. But it’s especially during these moments, that positive statements make the difference. They can lead to an improved mindset, and if repeated often cause a positive change in behavior. Find a list of positive affirmations here.
- I am loved. All is well.
- I am strong.
- I flow easily.
- My life is balanced.
- I feel safe in the rhythm of life.
- I am grateful for my health.
- I am calm.
- I attract abundance in every area of my life.
- I love myself.
- I easily accomplish my goals.
3. EAT NOURISHING FOOD
“You are what you eat.” The saying doesn’t come without reason. Your mental and physical balance depends a lot on what you eat and drink every day. Make sure your diet is balanced an adapted to your mind and body’s requirements. Read more about healthy eating here.
4. DRINK WATER
When we are born 95% of our body is water. Although this amount is a little less, once we reach the adult age, it is still higher than 70%. To keep your brain and body functioning properly, make sure you drink at least 1.5 liters of water every day. Ideally you already start the mornings by drinking a glass of warm water before drinking anything else. Toxins which have been collected in the body during the night are channeled faster, your organism is stimulated and works better and your complexion starts glowing.
5. TREAT YOURSELF WITH A NICE MASSAGE
Massages are a great method to let go, to relax and to unwind. Since it takes the tension off the muscles, it enhances wellbeing, reduces stress symptoms and leaves you more balanced.
6. GIVE SOMETHING TO SOMEBODY – JUST FOR THE SAKE OF GIVING
Today make somebody an unexpected gift. Buy a cup of coffee for a stranger, bring flowers to your friend – whatever it is, this small gesture not only might make the day of the other person, but also will it uplift and re-balance yourself. When giving we create positive energy, gratitude and strengthen our social connections.
7. UNWIND WITH YIN YOGA
Who of you have tried Yin Yoga to unwind, to relax and to return to yourself? We believe it is a great modality to restore the balance. Learn more about Yin Yoga in this video and check a Yin Yoga class close to your home.
8. DO SOMETHING CRAZY, SOMETHING YOU USUALLY DON’T DO
Just do it. Dance in the rain. Sing out loud in public. Whatever it is – be playful, crazy and light.
9. SPEND TIME IN NATURE
Nature is balancing and healing itself. It balances your energies, gives you power, calms you down, and reduces stress levels. Your prescription for today: Spend at least 30 minutes in nature.
10. ESTABLISH RITUALS
Rituals are a great idea all the time, but even more during stormy periods. They ground us, give us stabilization, guide us and give rhythm to our lives. Tell us about your rituals!
11. DANCE
Dancing is freedom. Through dancing we can ground us, release tension and ballast and even meditate. A great tool to re-gain balance is by doing Ecstatic Dance. Have you ever tried that? Join regular classes at The Yoga Barn. If you are not in Bali and your city does not offer Ecstatic Dance classes, listen to this set of BSF founder and presenter Raio. Start and just let your body move. How does it feel?
12. MEDITATE
Meditation is one of the top tools to rebalance. Regular meditating calms the mind and helps to deal with trauma, stress, anxiety, and it improves overall health. There are many ways to meditate. Today try the So Hum Meditation.
13. JOURNAL
Are you already journaling? If not, it might be a good time to start, as it is a great tool to maintain your balance. Writing a journal supports mental and physical health, helps you to achieve your goals and can decrease stress, anxiety and depression. Here are four hints on how to start journaling.
- Take at least 5-15 minutes every day to sit down without distractions, if possible in the morning as your mind is clear and free at that time.
- Use pen and paper. While it might seem easy to type everything in your laptop, when writing by hand certain parts of the brain are stimulated more.
- Write whatever comes into your mind. E.g. you could start writing down what you are thankful for, as it creates positive energy in yourself which makes you feel better instantly.
- Keep it private. Your journal is your sacred space. If you have the idea of showing it to somebody, your writing might not come as freely as it does when you know that this is just for you.
14. SWEAT
Exercising and working out regularly will make you feel amazing. There are so many ways – be it running, fast walking, dancing, volleyball, …the workouts are endless. The most important thing is that you enjoy what you are doing. Especially if we stay curious and try new workouts from time to time, we can feel extra charged, which in return helps us to rebalance. If you look for some new inspiration try Carpoeira. Learn more about it in this video.
15. GIVING VS. RECEIVING
Giving in from the heart in any form is necessary and essential for a fulfilling life. Just make sure that it is balanced with receiving. If you always give or take on more that you can handle, you might end up quite exhausted at some point. Check in and ask yourself today: Am I giving and receiving in a balanced way? If not, try to change that.
16. NOURISH YOUR SOUL
Do you know that ‘home’ feeling when you practice Yoga, being totally excited (in a positive way) every time you go into the ocean, or talking about healing? There is a reason for that. It is your soul speaking to you. If these feelings occur you are doing what is meant for you in that moment, thus following your soul guidance. The more often you follow your soul, the more balanced you will be. Before you start whatever you were up to in this moment, sit quietly for a few minutes and check what it is really you feel like (not) doing right now. If you look for interesting input to feed your soul read our blog…
17. TAKE TIME TO BREATHE
Breathwork is supposed to be the new yoga. Whether that is true or not – it is a great technique to let go, to reduce stress and to heal. Dedicate at least some minutes every day to conscious breathing. Find a recommended exercise by BaliSpirit Festival Presenter Giten Tonkov in the link and on biodynamicbreath.com
18. SPEND TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Humans are not made to be alone all the time. Surround yourself with loved ones. Make sure your inner circle is formed by people who lift you up, who support you and bring out the best in you. Social time is an important aspect for being happy.
Have you ever been at a spiritual festival with a friend? It can be a nice experience. Try it at next BSF and book your tickets here.
19. SPEND TIME ALONE
While we can feel quite comfortable being surrounded by other people most of the time, it is also important to take some timeouts and spend time alone. Though it might feel uncomfortable at the beginning, it is important to hear the voice of your soul, to feel yourself. Alone-time supports creativity, recharges the batteries, and brings you closer to yourself, hence increases your inner balance and well-being.
Have you been solo travelling already? Read here why it can be the best experience of your life.
20. FOCUS
We have learned to eat while checking our phones while walking down the street while telling hi to the guy next door while…society demanded to be multitasking whenever possible. Did you know that our brain is only able to have one thought at a time? That means if we do several things at a time, we are not giving 100% to one thing and also get distracted. That way we are exhausted faster, usually cannot do any of the things perfectly and get out of balance fast. Today try to focus and do just one thing at a time. What does it do with you? How do you feel at the end of the day?
21. TAKE TIME TO JUST BE
Most of us are in the “doing”mode most of the time. Try for a while to just BE. Stop worrying about your next appointment, don’t think of what has to be done today, stop dwelling on yesterday’s argument with a friend. Just be in the present moment as often as possible and observe what is happening to you.
