“We Are The Light!”

“We are the People, We are the Light!”

Chanted Rocky Dawuni, urging the audience to echo his chorus.

Gifted with a regal and statesman like persona Rocky Dawuni headlined the 2012 BaliSpirit Festival’s music program on the One World stage at ARMA on Sunday night with a powerful and progressive fusion of Reggae, Soul and traditional African sounds.

Ghana ‘s international music star, Dawuni currently has a string of accolades to his name that defines him as one of the world’s finest Reggae/World Music artists. (“Best African Artist” Award at the 2011 International Reggae & World music Awards, also recently recording with U2’s Bono for the highly successful “Playing for Change: Songs around the World” album).

Drawing material from his critically acclaimed 5th studio album, “Hymns For the Rebel Soul,” Rocky and his backing band of Indonesian musicians delivered an inspiring and uplifting set.

As well as being a renown social activist Dawuni’s live performances are also his opportunity to communicate his higher consciousness messages to the audience and the BaliSpirit Festival is a perfect platform.

“We are living in a time when the world needs honest spirituality,” he stated.

“Repeat after me – I have the power to change the world!”

Dawuni delivered chants and songs for the revolution and the crowd responded in pure delight.

Significantly, he paid homage to the great reggae icons Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and their anthem,

“Get up Stand Up, Don’t Give Up the Fight!”
